Marrakech to Merzouga
The eastern route, through the gorges to the dunes at Merzouga. The scenery on the way is the reason to do this one rather than Chigaga: kasbahs, the Valley of the Roses, and the walls of the Todra gorge.

Day by day
Day 1
Marrakech over the Tizi n'Tichka, the kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, Ouarzazate, then east along the road of a thousand kasbahs to the Dades valley. Night in the valley.
Day 2
Up into the Todra gorge in the morning, then east through Tinghir and Erfoud to Merzouga. Camels into the dunes of Erg Chebbi in the late afternoon, and the night in camp.
Day 3
Sunrise over the dunes. Then either back west to Marrakech, or north through the Ziz valley, Midelt and Ifrane to Fes.
